Jerusalem

The Israeli suite is a piece commissioned by Trio Collage.
The piece's name comes from Bach's Suites which are a group of dances.
The piece's theme is jewish identity, which is quite hard to define.
Since my family's origins is so diverse i decided to take the last 3 generations of my family as to the origins of the dances.
My Grandparents origin from Poland - Mazurka.
My parents origin from Argentina - Tango.
I was born in Israel and since an Israeli dance is hard to define, I choose Jerusalem as a name for an Israeli dance.
The reason i chose Jerusalem is since this city symbolizes the past and the future of Jews and many other religions.
Jerusalem is a synthesis of East and West and so is the music in this movement.
